Call for Papers - Architecture Driven Modernization Case Studies Workshop - (ADMCSW'09)

March 26th, 2009 - Washington, DC USA

The Architecture Driven Modernization Case Studies Workshop is dedicated to real world case studies involving the automated transformation of information systems from existing source code into modernized languages and platforms for the military, federal government, commercial, and state and local governments. The purpose of ADMCSW'09 is to explore innovative methods for the transformation of information systems with an emphasis on critical success factors in modernization projects. The ADMCSW'09 will be held in conjunction with the OMG ADM Government Information Day in Washington DC, March 26th. ADMCSW'09 papers will be presented to a broad audience of government federal, military and industrial senior IT managers and IT technologists.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Modernization tools and techniques play an essential role in the technical infrastructure and tasks and activities of modernization projects. Case Study submissions should describe the tools and technologies employed for software representation, knowledge-discovery, metrics, analysis, visualization, refactoring and transformation. Modernization scenarios play a crucial role in structuring modernization projects. Case Study submission should describe the modernization scenarios employed. Topics of ADMCSW'09 include, but are not limited to, case studies describing directions in software modernization involving scenarios for:

  • Application Portfolio Management
  • Application Improvement
  • Language-to-Language Conversion
  • Platform Migration
  • Non-Invasive Application SOA Integration
  • Service Oriented Architecture Transformation
  • Data Architecture Migration
  • System and Data Architecture Consolidation
  • Data Warehouse Deployment
  • Application Package Selection and Deployment
  • Reusable Software Assests / Components Reuse
  • Model Driven Architecture (MDA) Transformation
  • Software Quality Assurance

 

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Papers should describe significant work in the practice of software modernization. Papers should be limited to 10 to 15 pages, at most 9000 words. All papers should explicitly describe the modernization scenarios, tools, techniques employed, the key business case drivers, ROI, and should use accepted, standard terminology ADM Glossary, ADMTF Standards Roadmap, ADMTF Scenarios, ADM: Transforming the Enterprise. At least one author of each accepted paper must attend the conference. ADMCSW'09 strongly encourages electronic submissions. Papers should be in the MS Word format. ADMCSW'09 is a discussion-oriented working conference. Paper presentations will have a strict time limit (15 minutes each), followed by open joint discussion of the topic area and the several papers presented.
